Relax And Enjoy The Charm of Brooklyn's Sheepshead Bay and Brighton Beach Neighborhoods

Had a rough week at work? Need to clear your mind and have some quality downtime? The perfect prescription for you is a weekend trip to Sheepshead Bay, a neighborhood with it's own fishing village and a stop off at nearby Brighton Beach, where you will find the world famous boardwalk along the beach and ocean.

These neighborhoods were hit very hard by superstorm Sandy, but with a lot of Brooklyn moxie and determination Sheepshead Bay and Brighton Beach have once again blossomed and are a meca for wonderful restaurants, shopping, nightclubs or just to take a relaxing stroll along Emmons Avenue and the canal where swans and seagulls are there to greet you and the magical charm of the fishing boats coming in and out of the Sheepshead Bay Piers can bring a smile to your face.

Okay, let's talk about great food! The Cherry Hill Gourmet Market located at 1901 Emmons Ave is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. This landmarked, Moorish style, Lundy’s building is home to Cherry Hill and the interior of the building has been beautifully renovated and decorated. Everywhere you look there is a feast of some sort, whether it be in the incredible smoked fish department, the gorgeous bakery or the produce department. Upstairs on the second floor is the Lundy Cafe where you can enjoy a great omelet, a lovely cup of tea and a luscious piece of cake straight from the downstairs bakery.

One restaurant that I have visited countless times over the years never disappoints. That restaurant is the Turkish restaurant Liman, located at 2710 Emmons Avenue. The shepherds salad with fresh feta cheese and freshly baked bread is a meal unto itself, but that's just a start. Have a glass of red wine and soak up the great energy and fun that everyone has here. The grilled fish is always cooked to absolute perfection, whether the sea bass, barbonnia or turbot. Dessert is far from low calorie, but worth it. Try the kunefe made of phyllo dough and melted cheese. It's heavenly!
