Brooklyn Heights Bossert Hotel Update

July 22nd 2014
Tags: Real Estate News, Brooklyn Real Estate

In June and July of last year we blogged about the Jehovah's Witnesses sale of their Brooklyn properties including the Bossert Hotel on Montague Street. The hotel was sold for $81 million to Mr. David Bistricer. In last year’s blogs we also commented on the wonderful ripple effect the relaunch of the hotel will be to local merchants who will benefit from hotel guests spending money in the area.

As an update to last year’s blogs, the re-opening Bossert Hotel or what is now being called the future Waldorf Astoria of Brooklyn has been pushed back to 2015. That is the latest word from owner David Bistricer who is renovating the property into 280 luxurious suites and a rooftop restaurant.

Mr. Michael Silverman, a spokesman for the Hotel Bossert new owner Bossert LLC, made an announcement after a hearing before the Board of Standards and Appeals that they agreed to reduce the number of rooms from 302 to 280 and to limit the operating hours and the music volume of the rooftop terrace bar. Still the members of the Brooklyn Heights Association are not satisfied with the concessions made by Bossert LLC and the next and final public hearing is set for November 20th 2014.
