In October of 2013 the city completed a renovation project to the Highland Park, adding handicapped accessible and bicycle friendly pathways (one pathway around the reservoir) to the park as well as new fencing, pathways, lighting and plantings. Situated on a high plateau Highland Park offers magnificent views of Ridgewood Reservoir, the Rockaways, Atlantic Ocean, Cypress Hills National Cemetery and number of other nearby cemeteries. The Reservoir is fenced off as a Wildlife area.
