Kensington Brooklyn New York is a neighborhood known for its diversity with residents from dozens of countries and where at least 20 languages are spoken. Today, Kensington is becoming popular with young professionals for the simple reason that it is one of the last affordable neighborhoods before you get to Windsor Terrace, Park Slope and Cobble Hill.

The housing stock in Kensington consists of wood frame Victorian homes as well as brick and limestone row houses. Along Ocean Parkway there are many pre-war and post war Co-op apartment buildings. The price range for residential property in today's real estate market in this lovely, tree lined Brooklyn neighborhood is as follows: One family homes are in the $725,000 to just under $1M range, two family homes and multi family homes are in the range of $800,000 to $1.2M. Coop apartments are priced as follows: Studio Apartments are in the range of $125,000 to $155,000, One bedroom apartments are in the $230,000 to $295,000 range, Two bedroom apartments are in the range of $335,000 to $425,000 and Three bedroom apartments are in the range of $450,000 to $625,000.

Accord Real Estate Group is currently handling the marketing and sale of a mint condition, corner, bright and spacious 754 Square Foot one bedroom Co-op apartment in a Luxury Doorman Building located at 415 Beverly Road. The apartment is priced at $241,000.

Transportation into Manhattan with the subway is on the Q or B trains on Church Ave and East 18th Street or the F and G trains on Church Ave and McDonald Ave. Expect a 45 minute ride into Midtown Manhattan. The BM3 and the BM4 express buses to Manhattan are a 30 minute ride to Midtown.

The local schools are P.S. 130, The Parkside School which runs thru Grade 5 and A Charter School called Brooklyn Prospect for Grades 6-10. Grades 11 and 12 will be added.

The shopping choices in Kensington are wonderful, from the Organic Food Co-op supermarket on Cortelyou Road and East 15th Street to many different smaller shops on Cortelyou Road, to Ditmas Ave, 18th Ave and Church Ave shops galore.

For a terrific selection of wine bars and restaurants, go to Cortelyou Road to The Farm at Adderly restaurant or The Purple Yam restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Prospect Park and all that it has to offer year round is just a few blocks away. You may want to take your bicycle for a trip along the Ocean Parkway Bike Path to Coney Island. The trip is wonderful along gorgeous tree lined Ocean Parkway in the Spring and Summer.
