Brooklyn Bridge Park - Exciting Parkland Area Planned

Most of Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) is undeveloped at this time. There are plans for a lovely area with a lawn, a large field of gorgeous flowers, wonderful shade trees, places to sit and stroll and a triangular wood covered platform. The platform will raise 17 ½ feet high from the corner of pier 6 to offer wonderful views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Under the platform there will be 3,000 square feet of shady seating.

The platform was designed by architecture firm BIG Bjarke Ingels Group and the landscaping design is by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates.

There will be a hearing September 9th by the City Public Design Commission to approve the planned project, which has already been approved by the Community Board 2 executive committee.

The lawn on pier 6 would allow Brooklyn Bridge Park to have big events such as concerts.

There are year round activities being planned for Brooklyn Bridge Park, some examples are a skating rink, fishing area, kayaking, a sports field, a sports complex and much more.
