The Economic Development Corporation and developer Salmar Properties are investing in an innovation hub in Sunset Park. Located at Liberty View Industrial Plaza in a 1.1 million square foot, 8 story Industrial building. The space will be subdivided and the hub will occupy 160,000 square feet to provide space for projects in robotics, wearable technology as well as space for emerging fashion designers and clothing manufacturers.

Deputy Mayor For Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen says that " we are focused on making investments that are going to spur innovation, create good jobs and keep New York City competitive".

There will be approximately 300 jobs in 20 to 30 businesses that will be housed at this facility.

According to Bob Bland, a fashion designer who founded Manufacture New York, " New York's fashion manufacturers will have access to world class industrial space and infrastructure at prices they can afford".

Liberty View Industrial Plaza was transferred to the city in 2011 after more than a decade of vacancy. The building was then leased after a competitive Request For Proposal process to Salmar Properties which invested close to $100M in a complete renovation of the property. The building is now the most modern high tech facility in the city.

According to Salmar co founder Marvin Schein “our vision is to promote job creation in New York and to develop Liberty View as a new hub for the city's fashion industry".
