Brooklyn's New York Marriott Hotel wants to stay on top and undergoing a total renovation. The hotel was opened in 1998 in Downtown Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Bridge when there was the only full service hotel in Downtown Brooklyn at the time. Through the years The Marriott has held several conferences for real estate agents representing many of Brooklyn’s real estate companies.

Fast forward to 2015 and many new hotels have been built or are being planned for development in the near future.

We recently blogged about the wonderful new hotels in Williamsburg such as the William Vale, currently under construction, The McCarren Hotel and The Williamsburg Hotel.

Other significant hotels planned for Brooklyn are The Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel, The Intercontinental Hotel Group’s Even Hotel and The Bossert Hotel (The future Waldorf Astoria of Brooklyn).

With this boom in hotel development in Brooklyn, in an effort to stay on top as the premier hotel in Brooklyn, The New York Marriott in Downtown Brooklyn has just finished the first phase of a $43 Million dollar renovation of the entire hotel, which will be completed by July 2016. The first phase of the hotels renovation includes a redesigned lobby, restaurant and concierge lounge. The Formal Dining Room has been replaced by The Bar, a chic and gorgeous lounge that serves local food and drinks.

Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Carlo Scissura said that “The Marriott was a trailblazer when they opened in the late 90’s”. Scissura continued to say “now they realized that they needed to do something new and they are”.

The New York Marriott in Downtown has 46,000 square feet of meeting space, 667 rooms. That’s a lot of space to renovate, but they are determined to stay on top as the premier hotel in Brooklyn.
